Chevy vs. Ford: Battle of the South One of the biggest debates among men in the South is trucks and which brand is the best: Ford, Dodge, or Chevy. In this paper I will compare the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 based on their affordability, ratings, and features. I will discuss which truck is more affordable based on retail prices, their ratings based on US News Best Cars, and their features that come standard in the trucks. The first topic covered is the affordability of the two trucks. When it comes to affordability, the Silverado is smack dab in the middle of the F-150 pricing. The Silverado costs anywhere from $26,277 to $47,656 on average, while the F-150 comes in around $25,628 to $52,284. Concerning gas mileage, the Chevy Silverado barely gets more miles per gallon than the Ford F-150 with 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The Ford F-150 falls just short of the Silverado with just 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The next comparison is the rankings of the two trucks.…show more content…
The ranking is based off of analysis of published reviews, test drives, and safety data. The Silverado ranked #1 because of its comfortable ride, engine choices, and the well-designed interior. The F-150 was ranked #4 based on its interior, which some called cheap, the MyFord Touch system, which some found confusing, and the 2availability of interior storage. On the Silverado’s scorecard, it was beat out by the F-150 in two categories: performance and interior. The Silverado earned an overall rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, while the F-150 received an overall rating of four stars.
