Coco Chanel is worldwide famous for her brand known as Chanel, it includes clothing, perfumes, and accessories. She is mostly famous for creating the little black dress and creating attractive and comfortable clothing for women. She was and still is a fashion icon, she was one of the first women to run a successful and large business in the fashion industry. Coco Chanel lived a unexpected, fashion and love filled life. Around the age of 20, Chanel became involved with Etienne Balsan who offered to help her start a millinery business in Paris. She soon left him for one of his even wealthier friends, Arthur “Boy” Capel. Both men were instrumental in Chanel’s first fashion venture (Biography). With her first store she started out by selling hats at her store on Paris’s Rue Cambon in 1910. The two men helped her out by opening up a shop for her because she wouldn’t have the money to do it on her own. During the 1920s, Coco Chanel became the first designer to create loose women's jerseys, traditionally used for men's underwear, creating a relaxed style for women ignoring the stiff corseted look of the time (lifetimetv). Chanel was very famous for her clothing, she helped all the women get away from the corset look. Her designs were made for comfort. Coco Chanel had many obstacles thrown at her during her life, like relationships, family problems or problems with fashion but that didn't stop her. Her mom dying and her having to go to an orphanage was a good thing because who knows if Chanel would be around today if she never went because the nuns taught her how to sew. She had many love affairs and never ended up getting married, she got asked but denied it. Chanel No. 5 is one of the worlds most famous perfume along with the brand Chanel itself.
