Captain America also known as Steve Rogers was a thin young man enhanced to human perfection by an experimental serum to aid the United States government's imminent efforts in World War II. Captain America wears a costume that shows an American flag motif, and he holds a nearly indestructible shield. Captain America started with Timely Comics, the company that would eventually become Marvel. Captain America was created in the early 40s right around the time of World War II. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby(the makers of Captain America) did not like Nazi Germany’s blitzkriegs throughout Europe. Rogers nearly past his late teens attempts to enlist to the army but is rejected due to his size. His resolution attracts the notice of U.S. Army General Chester Phillips. Rogers is used as a test subject for the Super-Soldier project, receiving a special serum made by "Dr. Josef Reinstein later retroactively changed to a code name for the scientist Abraham Erskine. After the experiment the serum was a success making Steve Rogers into a nearly perfect human being with incredible strength, agility, stamina, and intelligence. Captain America then wore a costume that has a star and red, white and blue. Cap was also given a triangular bulletproof shield, a personal sidearm and the codename Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty. Rogers made friends with the army’s camp mascot, teenager James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes Bucky found out about Roger’s dual identity and offers to keep the secret if he can become Captain America's sidekick. Franklin D. Roosevelt (the president at the time) presents Captain America with a new shield that is extremely powerful that was made of steel and vibranium, and fused by an unknown
