Cajun English has been in my family since before I was born. My father is from Eunice and all of my relatives from his side live there and in Basile. I have never been able to speak Cajun French but my grandparents spoke it fluently to each other and my older relatives. For all the cold holidays there was always a pot of gumbo to be found in the kitchen. I remember going to school when I was younger and being served gumbo for lunch. Every Sunday my dad turns his favorite radio station on, KBON, to listen to Cajun music while he cooks a gravy. This is a tradition my dad has done for a few years that I have really grown to love.
