The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Books such as The Hunger Games, A Child Called It, and The Kite Runner are books that have been banned at least once, or were books that were heavily discussed in being banned in public schools. However, there are books out there that teach the reader very important lessons of life, or gives the reader a lot of factual information on a realistic subject. One of those books would be The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas should be a book that teens are allowed to read. Teens should be allowed to read The Boy In The Striped Pajamas because this book gives factual information of WWII, gives the reader visuals of how life was in the 1930’s, and shows the importance of a friendship. One reason the The Boy In The Striped Pajamas should be a book that is allowed to read in public school is because this book teaches about the second world war. For example,“There was a huge wire fence that ran along the length of the house and turned in at the top, extending further along in either direction” (Boyne 31). This evidence gives a brief description of the concentration camps that took place during WWII, which was of course a big part of WWII, and in Bruno’s perspective Bruno is looking at a long fence and has no idea what this is or what this represents. An example from the text is, “In Berlin there had been tables set out on the street, and sometimes when he walked home from school with Karl, Daniel and Martin there would be men and women sitting at them”(Boyne 13). This quote shows a very descriptive visual of Berlin, and how calm life was back then and how happier Bruno was there than at his new home Out-With.
