In the book Number the Stars, Annemarie Johansen,a ten year old girl has to deal with things that usually 10 year olds don't have to deal with. In this book there are lies told to her that transferred Annemarie Johansen from childhood to womanhood.
The first lie she was told was about her sister Lise. Annemarie’s parents told her that Lise was in a car accident and died on the site. Annemarie believed that for so many years, that her sister died in a car accident when it wasn't true at all. It turns out that Lise died in a fatal hit and run. She was at a meeting with the group called the RESISTANCE, and it was raided by the Nazi Soldiers. Lise decided to run and she was hit on the sidewalk by a military car.
