What is a worldview? A worldview is a set of beliefs, which are consistent and coherent, that a person holds in relation to how he or she views the world, social problems, ethical decisions, and how overall a society should function. Simply holding certain beliefs on how the world should function is not alone a worldview. Acting on what one believes and how one believes certain situations should be is a major part of having a worldview as well. What is a biblical worldview? A biblical worldview starts with the belief in God, who is the creator of all. God is both an immanent and transcendent being. As a result of my parents’ extensive commitment to serving Christ, I adopted a biblical worldview practically at birth. Throughout middle school and high school I encountered various other worldviews, but always stood firm to a biblical worldview. At one point I even studied the different religions to become aware of why those religious systems believed what they believed. I have never strayed from my biblical worldview, but by taking this class, Biblical Worldview, I have a gained a more profound knowledge of supporting certain beliefs held within my biblical worldview. Now I am more equipped knowledge-wise to answer non-biblical worldview holders’ questions about why I devoutly hold to a biblical worldview.
