When people find out they are having a baby they have many thoughts running through their heads. Most parents want what is best for their baby and want them to be healthy. They are faced with the hard decision of whether or not they should vaccinate their baby. Is this what's best for my baby? Are there too many risks? What are the benefits of vaccinating? Will this cause my baby to have autism? The truth is, there are many benefits of vaccinating including the fact that it can save a child's life, can save a family time and money, and protect future generations. An example of this is “A meta-analysis of ten studies involving more than 1.2 million children reaffirms that vaccines do not cause autism” ("New Meta-analysis Confirms: No Association," n.d.). This shows us that people can not receive autism from a vaccine. This source also tells us that if anything, vaccines are associated with a decreased risk that children would develop autism; the strongest vaccine that can prevent autism is the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine. Multiple people believe that vaccines cause autism because a vaccine may trigger the onset of autism symptoms in a child with an underlying medical or genetic condition ("Are Vaccines to Blame," n.d.). Therefore, even though it may trigger the symptoms, vaccines alone do not cause autism. Children are born with autism, but it may take until two years of age for signs and symptoms to become obvious ("Are Children Born With," n.d.). This proves that you can not get autism by receiving a vaccination, you are born with it. Also, there is no evidence to support the claim that vaccines cause autism ("Vaccines Do Not Cause," n.d.).
