Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon. This mission sure was quiet a ride. Now the objective of Apollo 13 was to land on the moon and collect moon samples as they had in the previous missions this was all done in idea of President Nixon. Some of the scientific experiments conducted were Atmospheric Electrical Phenomena. In the previous mission, Apollo 12, there was an electrical disturbance as a result of that there were several experiments done prior to the Apollo 13 launch. The electrical phenomenon (is what would happen to certain experiment when done on the moon) was a possibility of an increase in the hazards of not very important weather launches. Now what this does is that it gave us a opportunity to research more when there is large objects on moon the possibilities of being exposed to phenomena. Now what they have changed for Apollo 13 is that instead of sending the vehicle in orbit as done in previous mission (Apollo mission 12) they decided to land on the moon’s surface. The Apollo mission occurred on the date of April 11, 1970 at 1:13 p.m. cst Apollo 13 lift of was a success everything was going good. At 3:48 of the same day the Aquarius was on direction towards the moon. Now two days after the successful lift off commander Gene Kranz had told jack swigert to stir the oxygen tanks and he did as told but once he dine that there was a explosion and knocked out two of the three fuel cells in the service module and had gone dead. At this time our scientist down here on earth had no idea at all what was going on they were doubting what there computers were reading. They later realized that there was a explosion and that the three astronaut’s were in some serious danger. Commander Gene Kranz had a meeting with his scientist and came up with a game plan (plan…show more content…
The Aquaria’s was pulled into the moons orbit in April 14, at 2:43 a.m. from this point they were going to lose single with our scientist back here on earth in till they get to the other side of the moon. On April 14, 8:40 p.m. the Aquarius turns on the PC+2 to get out of the moons orbit and head on to earths direction. Three days later the astronauts had run in to another problem which is the damaged service module on the date April, 17, 7:14 a.m. this is bad for the astronauts because there in nitrogen coming in more and more when they breath oxygen. Now the scientist down here on earth had to find out how to make a filter out of the things that they have up there believe it or not the scientist were able to make a filter just in time. Meanwhile the scientist down here on earth are still trying to find out a way with turning everything up in the Aquarius without going over the use of 20
