Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish immigrant who moved to the United States in 1848 with his parents who were very poor. As an adult Carnegie created his own steel company because the free enterprise system allowed him to. His company was called Carnegie Steel Company and was located in Pittsburgh. The free enterprise system gave him the right to make his own economic decisions and without it he would have never been able to start his own company and change the world of steel. The free enterprise system in America allows any individual to start their own business and make an impact on the economy. Through competition businesses can compete for customers who decide where to spend their money. For Carnegie, it allowed him to start his own company.
