This week in Literacy, children learned the letter Dd and Ss. We traced the letter, wrote in their My Ss Book and wrote in their My Dd Book. The other days, we wrote a Halloween Story and colored pictures, learned the Itsy Bitsy Spider, and The Old Woman In The Shoe. For the Itsy Bitsy Spider, we designed a spider in our poetry journals. On Friday, we had our 5th graders come in to help our kindergartners punch holes and lace their shoe for “The Old Woman In The Shoe.” This week for professional development, we had a staff meeting. The meeting was over module 3: Cognitive Rigor. Cognitive rigor is a level of thinking students should be at with deep reflection and a critical aspect of aligning learning objectives with assessment tasks.
