After this encounter, Amir sets on a journey to find Sohrab and to redeem him from all the bad he did to Hassan by taking care of his only son. Nonetheless, the journey was not easy. Afghanistan was a destroyed and scared country. The Taliban worsened everyday. After a couple of days, Amir finally finds Hassan in an orphanage that is completely destroyed. People from the Taliban are raising him. Assef, the same character that abused Hassan, is the one who buys kids from the orphanage. Assef abuses the kids and Sohrab was being one of them. When Amir encounters Assef, he decides it is time to find vengeance for Hassan and decides to do what he did not do 20 years ago. He has a massive fight with Assef, in which he ends up in the hospital unconscious.
