The constitution establishes America’s national and fundamental laws, and guarantees rights for citizens. These are all very important things. America’s first governing document, The Articles of Confederation, was weak and states acted like independent countries, which is why the constitution is so important. Soon after the U.S won independence over Great Britain in the Revolutionary War, it was obvious the America that they needed a stronger central government in order to remain stable. The constitution was the answer to the problem. The framers, or writers, of the Constitution was a well educated group.
