If you randomly asked people on the street to describe a person that had a profound impact upon them, you would hear many stories about teachers. One of the first people to come to my mind when asking myself this question was Alan MacDonald, who taught me most of what I know about music. I consider Alan to be a great teacher, as well as a great mentor and friend. He is undoubtedly an expert musician, being proficient in guitar, bass, vocals, composition, and arrangement. Alan once told me that his nephew affectionately called him “Uncle Alien”, which is an oddly appropriate moniker.
