Have you ever wanted something to just...work? It was the beginning of my sophomore year with the brisk, cool air and the leaves changing color. I was ready to conquer another cross-country season. In fact, I told myself it was going to be my best one yet. So far, it was. By the fifth race I had made the varsity team but by the eleventh race my season had ended. Given that cross-country is an outdoor sport, we run in all different conditions. Some days it is unbearably humid, others it is frigid. On the day of our eleventh race there was rain, heavy rain. But, we carried on just like we would if the sun was out. My team and I stepped up to the starting line and the man wearing the bright orange vest said in a deep, gruff voice "Ladies!
