Vertigo, a film that is packed with subtle motifs and themes, a emotive score and a fatal attraction. Death is normally something to be feared, something to avoid at all costs, what Vertigo did was to explore death as both frightening yet attractive. In the opening scene, we see Scottie hanging from a roof as his comrade tries to pull him up, while scotties comrade is trying to save scottie, he falls to his death which leaves scottie dangling, when one is faced with this decision there seems to be no way out apart from to drop and end the sheer terror of hanging there, this makes death somewhat attractive. Death is also presented as attractive to scottie, as he is trying to mold judy into the personality of madeline, almost trying to kill
