In the world, there exists good and evil. A fiend or devil is the epitome of evil, consisting of unethical qualities. These characteristics range from deception, temptation and murder. Malcolm, son of the murdered king Duncan referred to Lady Macbeth as a ‘fiend-like’ queen. Lady Macbeth deserves the title ‘fiend-like’ queen because she asks the evil spirits to possess her to commit a horrible sin, tempted and manipulated her husband, and through deception tricked many people. The first reason why she is a ‘fiend-like’ queen is because she asks evil spirits to possess her to commit a horrible sin. This is made evident when she says “Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here” (I. v. 39-40). Because she was possessed, she was able to commit a taboo and removed herself of her lady-like qualities while staying deceitful. However her possession became more obvious when the gentlewoman caught Lady Macbeth sleep walking and sleep talking. Eventually, it leads to her suicide, which the Elizabethans believed to happen due to her possessed state of mind.…show more content…
When Macbeth wrote a letter to her concerning about the witches prophecies and how they came true, she immediately created a conspiracy to assassinate King Duncan with the help of her husband. Lady Macbeth’s soliloquy while reading the letter mentions that she wants Macbeth to hurry home so she can persuade him to go after the crown. .
