In the novel, Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede, the main character, Cimorene, runs away from her kingdom because her parents want her to be a proper princess. She goes to a hovel where she meets her new too strong a word, Kazul. Kazul is a female dragon that treats CImorene with respect. But later on, there are trials and tribulations they must face. Cimorene doesn’t act like a princess because she is improper and people keep telling her that. This is Cimorene’s reason why she doesn't act like a princess.
