How did the events at Gallipoli contribute to the ANZAC legend? The events at Gallipoli contributed to the Anzac Legend because the Gallipoli campaign was the first time that Australia got involved in the war as a nation and to earn the respect of other nations. People called the Gallipoli campaign a disaster because there was a lot of people who died during the campaign and we were basically unsuccessful during it but the men worked really hard for our country so that is something that makes Australians proud. The first attempt at the Gallipoli campaign was to force the Dardanelles by using naval power alone but that attempt had failed so the General made a 70,000 Mediterranean Expeditionary Force which had the Australian and New Zealand Army
