Children’s experiences with books, plays an important role in the development of their literacy and language skills. There are children that enter school unprepared and lack the basic skills required to do well. Students who lack reading struggle to learn how to read and write. There are other students who enter school with hours of experience with books. They are exposed to vocabulary and language on a daily basis. Dialogic reading is an effective way to assist in the development of literacy and language skills in children. Is a collaborative book reading practice that enables both the child and adult to switch roles when reading the story.
