CITATATION: Washington v. Glucksberg, 521 U.S. 702 (1997) FACTS: Historically, the State of Washington has criminalized those who have attempted to assist those who are ill with assisted suicide. They have promoted that it is unconstitutional to aid those in committing suicide. Dr. Harold Glucksberg and four other physicians worked for a non-profit organization that counseled terminally ill patients who were contemplating physician assisted-suicide. Glucksberg decided to file a law suit on Washington after counseling three terminally ill patients, and challenged the state ban on physician assisted-suicide.
