The Film Vertig¬o and Mulholland Drive are very interesting films. Both of these films have expression of surrealism. Mulholland Drive is a very complex film. What I really found interesting is that these two films are that there are some similarities in many ways. Both directors’ combines reality and illusion together in their works. Emotion takes over from the viewer’s mind and gives us what we need to survive tragedy. Both film end in a tragic way. This leads the audience into the mystery and shows the viewer the powerful emotion expressions such as fear, love and the dreams. Some thing that is similar in this film is mistaken identity, double figures, failure. Both films share themes, setting, narrative structure and moods. Some themes that are similar in these films are loss of identity and obsession. Mulholland Drive also narrated in two parts like Vertigo. There’s a dream sequence and the reality.
