I will be doing my analysis paper on the Luxor Pyramid. The architect of this structure is Veldon Simpson and the interior designer was Charles Silverman. The contruction started in 1992, and was completed in 1993. The location of the Luxor Pyramid is in Las Vegas, Nevada. The style of the Luxor Pyramid is postmodernism and the building type is a skyscraper. It sits on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. The Luxor Pyramid started out as a hotel and a casino, which it still is today. The height of the 350 feet tall, with a base of 646 feet. There are 30 stories with 2,526 rooms. The casino area has 120,000 square feet of gaming/gambling space. At the top of the building lies the Luxor Sky Beam, which is the strongest beam of light in the world.…show more content…
I visited this site earlier this week at around 7 P.M. The Luxor Pyramid is made from mostly steel and glass. The exterior walls are made of dark bronze glass, but it looks black from a low altitude view. The Luxor Pyramid is one third the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. It's a true pyramid with all sides being isosceles triangles. It took two years to build and cost $375 million. The walls on the inside of the hotel are the rooms themselves. The elevators travel at a 39 degree angle to form the shape of the pyramid on the inside. There is a 820,000 cubic meter atrium inside the pyramid, which is the largest in the world. I find this work to be remarkable. I enjoy seeing structures that are very different from everyday things. Some people will never see the pyramids in Egypt, but you don't need to go there to see one. There is one right here in the United States. It is not built of the same materials and not build for the same reasons, but it is still a pyramid. This structure was jaw dropping for me.
