I knew at the onset of my career I would need dedication, determination, and a strong work ethic. I would need to find a career that would challenge me, provide me opportunities and stability, and continue to push me to be the best version of myself. In my first professional position, Travelers Insurance hired me as a catastrophe claim professional in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After several months of traveling the United States to help customers navigate difficult situations, I decided that this position was not my desired end state. While it taught me valuable information about the property/casualty insurance product and gave me confidence in my ability to adapt quickly to evolving situations, I wanted more. Soon after, I was promoted from within the company to a position as an analyst in the claim product group, at the company’s headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut. I took a chance and transplanted myself. While this too was not my dream job, I knew it would be a step in the right direction. Taking full advantage of this opportunity, I learned as much as I could about the business process, worked alongside some truly inspiring leaders and gained significant exposure to the inner workings of insurance. My academic background and on-the-job experiences have equipped me with an informal understanding of business; however, I believe that attending business school will provide that well-rounded foundation and education in business I eagerly seek. The UCONN MBA will shape my understanding of finance, evolve my leadership skills and polish my business acumen in order to be a successful and inspiring
