After I finish read “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, I think the author is trying to tell us about the dark side of the society and how people become cruel and cool blood. In “The Lottery” the tradition influenced people in a negative way. People are conscious of what they're doing, but have no alternative, townspeople being numb for doing the lottery. Since they were child they know what they should do, picked up the stones ready for it start. The superstition fit in by townspeople believes that sacrificing a people in the village can bring a good harvest for next year, even though they know how to farm but the thinking are already exist in their mind as little.
