Although, sodium is essential for the human body, oftentimes the amount people consume far exceeds the recommended daily intake. Too much sodium can affect how the kidneys use osmosis, the process which draws out extra fluid from your blood. This process requires an extremely delicate balance of sodium and potassium, which can be easily thrown off kilter the more sodium you take in. This ruins any possibility of your kidneys function properly, and effectively makes them less efficient at removing the excess water from within the blood vessels.
