Jem’s life In the novel to kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, growing up in difficult circumstances makes a young man grow up quickly. As Jem becomes more mature he starts taking decisions that separate him from the people around him. In the beginning, Jem enjoyed the childish games. He always played with Scout and Dill but one day he came up with a game and he said “ I know we are going to play something new, something different”p.38. He called it Boo Radley. That shows how immature the Jem. Boo radley was a mysterious character in the novel the kids thought he was dangerous. All they knew is that he doesn’t leave his house but nobody knew anything about him. Jem becomes more moody as things happen , He starts to take decisions that separate him from the younger around him.…show more content…
He started to leave scout and not play games with her as he used to. Scout said “It was difficult to live with him.”p.115 She also said “Jem had acquired an alien set of values and was trying to impose them on me: several times he went as far as to tell me what to do.”p.115 That shows that Jem is changing little by little but he doesn’t see that change in him. He hollered at scout and said “ It’s time you start being a girl.” p.115 Jem never told Scout something like this before in fact he use to tell her to stop acting like a girl. Scout sees that change and she doesn't like it so in result she started talking to Ms.Maudie who talked to Scout about how good Boo Radley is and that he is not a bad
