In the story “The Teacher Who Changed My Life”, Gage does an amazing job at creating a theme of sometimes all you need is a push to help. The author had a rough past and his family was staring new. “I clutched my Greek notebooks from the refugee camp, hoping that my few years of schooling would impress my teacher in this cold, crowded country” (Gage 85).
