The Secret Life of Bees The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd revolves around Lily Owens who has spent most of her life tormented by her mother’s accidental death by Lily’s own hands. She travels to Tiburon, South Carolina a town written on a photo of Black Mary. When she gets there she finds the last thing she expected three black bee-keeping sisters. She learns about the Black Madonna and slowly begins to unravel the mystery of her mother.
