The Pros And Cons Of Nanoscience And Nanotechnology

Nanoscience and nanotechnology are the two new promising areas in multidisciplinary sciences. In them, each particle is seen as a whole unit at its transport properties. Nano science and nanotechnology research provides on every known small and unique physical and chemical process and promote technologies for the same. This helps us to create new nanosized materials having unique properties, but this is not the case when they are in bulk. Nanotechnology focuses on a molecule and exploits all its properties to control the structure of a material at a small dimensional scale. In nanotechnology, the materials and systems used are in the scale of an atom: the nanometer. Materials are created at an atomic level and are then manipulated to achieve the desirable quantities, likewise many new devices are also created in the field of medicine, electronics etc with the help of nanotechnology (Cao et al. 2007; Foley at al. 2002).…show more content… Agglomeration can be avoided using surface engineering and bottom-up approaches. Nanomaterials can be characterized on one, two, three and zero dimensional scale. Matter itself is calculated in the nanoscale. Nanoparticles vary in properties from that of the bulk materials due to its extremely small size and high surface volume ratio. All the biological building blocks of life are nano entities which possess unique qualities depending on their size, pattern and folding. DNA as well as proteins and cell membranes consist of particles in the nanoscales. Matter exhibits quantum and surface phenomena. This is where scope of nanotechnology arises (Li et al. 2011; Liu et al.
