The Lottery Foolishness

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”, that quotation relates to the lottery in a numerous amount of ways. The quotation depicts the foolishness of repeating an immoral choice over and over again for maybe over seventy-seven years. Stating that making bad choices more than once means you are of a small mind. In the story, the lottery every year on the 27th of June, a ‘lottery’ is held where members of the community stone another member for no other reason than traditions sake. So much so that many people who participate in the stoning don’t feel regret because it is the social norm. In the story, it is stated that they are one of the last villages to have a lottery annually, in society they are of one the last ‘little minds’.
