After reading the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, I really think that the movie wasn’t all that good. Phillip Noyce, the director of the movie, The Giver, didn’t do a good job recreating the story, into a movie. He skipped over half of the book, Jonas, Asher, and Fiona did not look like 12 year old's, Fiona and Asher got assigned different jobs, etc. The movie cover On the other hand, the movie and book were similar because no one saw colors, except for the Receiver of memory and the Receiver in training, everyone got a morning injection/pill, and there was no pain or warfare. Basically, The Giver by Lois Lowry is a realistic fiction novel, about a boy who supposedly lives in a Utopian community, but actually lives in a Dystopian community. When children turn 12, the get an assignment, and are immediately put into training until they have completed their training. Once they are done with their training, that assignment is their full time job, and they would train…show more content…
This shows that Jonas is a brave boy who wants to risk his life, so that everyone else’s life is better. Now in the movie, I liked the part when Jonas wanted Fiona to come with him on his journey, so that he could give her the memories of the past to her, and save her from this awful community. If you are wondering how the Movie consists with the book, then I will tell you. The movie consists with the book on all of the information, like how the community is suppose to be a Utopia, but is actually a Dystopia, and how citizens in the community don’t have memories of our world, except for the Receiver of Memory and the Receiver in training, but the movie speeds past the book on so many levels. Like I said in the beginning, Noyce skipped over half of the book, going straight to when Jonas turned 12, without explaining what was happening. This to me rushed the
