Disney Princesses are the idols of a young girl’s life. They are smart, resourceful, pretty and thin. And when you have a daughter, of course you want her to have someone to look up to, like Princess Belle and her intelligence, or Snow White with her tranquil nature. But what if the Disney Princesses are actually encouraging the early stages of self-hate? “Throughout the last few years there has been a philosophical discussion on how Disney Princesses has a negative impact on young girls’ expectations on their future. The feminist theory classifies a voice to achieve women's liberation by elimination the oppression of women in society” (Storify). Cinderella is left under the protection of her evil step mother and sisters who make her take care of all the household chores. Cinderella and her mother and sisters receive a letter from the palace asking them to attend the prince's ball. Though she completes all the chores her mother forces her to do, the step sisters don't want her to go and rip up her dress as an attempt to not let Cinderella go to the ball. After the stepmothers and step sisters leave, a fairy godmother then appears and gives her a dress and carriage. Cinderella was given everything she needed, but she had one rule. That was to be home before midnight. Cinderella goes to the ball and dances with the prince, and he falls in love with her. When the clock strikes 12 she runs out, accidentally leaving a glass slipper behind. The prince picks it up and vows to check every girl’s foot until he finds the right one. He eventually finds Cinderella, after going to every house that belonged to a maiden, and they get married. The sisters and mother never show up, nor do they get punished. Cinderella was chosen for its similarity to the Snow White story, based on another Brothers Grimm fairy
