In this story, “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver, he starts with a storyteller telling the peruser in a conversational tone that a visually impaired companion of his wife’s is coming to visit them. The narrator is not by any stretch of the imagination upbeat about the visit by the visually impaired man as he trusts that the visually impaired man is peculiar. When Robert arrives, the narrator observes him very carefully. They ate together and drank together because of which the storyteller got more to think about the blind man, where the storyteller's assessment about Robert changes. The storyteller then portrays the discussion in the middle of him and Robert that how his perspective changed about the blind man. At the point when his wife went upstairs, he asked the visually impaired man climate he needs another drink. The visually impaired man answered by saying yes. At that point he inquired as to whether he needed to smoke some moron with the storyteller, which he concurred of doing with the storyteller. The storyteller was having an organization in smoking and drinking which was the significant part of changing his sentiment about Robert. Thereafter, he prepared drinks as well as smoke for both of them and they settled on the sofa. Meanwhile the narrator’s wife arrives wearing a pink robe and pink slippers and interrogates about the smell. The narrator replies of having smoke with Robert and than they talks about Robert’s habit of smoking. While smoking Robert says, “there’s a first time of everything, but he didn’t felt the smoke strong.” (Carver 66-67). The narrator, his wife and Robert were getting into a good discussion which was helping the storyteller understanding the carefree way of Robert's.
