The Alcantara Bridge was built around 104-106 C.E, ordered by Trajan.
Trajan was a Roman emperor from 98 C.E to 117 C.E following his successor Hadrian. He was the leader of the Nerva-Antonine which was a dynasty including 7 roman emperors such as “Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, Lucius Verus, Marcus Aurelius, Commodus”("Trajan"). Trajan’s father was Marcus Ulpius, who was a general and senator of the “gens Ulpia” ("Trajan"). “ Marcus Ulpius Traianus the elder served Vespasian in the first Jewish war, commanding the X Fretensis legion” (“Trajan”).
