Teller versus Morrow It is common for characters in movies, television, and books to be classified as unique. They are created with their own personal style, and their own personality traits. Most importantly, they are forced to endure certain situations in which lead them to make their own decisions. In the television series Sons of Anarchy, each character comes upon hardship between their chosen and biological family. The Sons of Anarchy are a motorcycle gang in which transport and sell illegal weapons. Although the gun business was not the original fate for the club, Clay Morrow, the clubs president, believes running guns is the only way to stay stable. Jackson Teller, Clays son in law and the clubs vise president, thinks otherwise.…show more content…
Primitively the Sons begin to expand their clientele, and as president, it is up to Clay to make some tough decisions. His main focus is to continue to grow business and keep the club from loosing money. However, after loosing a few members, it has become unclear to the rest of the MC, (Motorcycle Club), as to why Clay is still fixed on trafficking guns. There are a few reasons as to why Clay would like to stay in this illegitimate commerce. Clay claims his first intention is to keep the MC financially stable. Although all the members have separate jobs outside of the club, the amount of money they earn, is not enough to support their family. After finding out that Clay was the reason behind Jacksons biological fathers death(Dunn & Eberl 189), Jackson and the other club members decide to disown him. The next step for Jackson is to get the club out of the gun business. There are a few reasons why Jackson wants to get the club away from running guns. The most evident reason is he needs to protect his family. After having his first son kidnapped by “the Irish” which are whom they get their guns from, Jax realizes he is raising his family in a dangerous environment. It becomes his goal to get his wife Tara and his two kids, Abel and Thomas, out of Charming. In season seven,episode thirteen, Jackson says, “...I'm not a good man. Im a criminal and a killer. I need my sons to grow up...hating the thought of me”(Sutter). Jackson doesn't want his sons to fall onto the same footsteps he did and end up joining the gun business in the future. The second reason why Jax wants out of the gun business is it was not the clubs intention to run guns in the first place. Jacksons father, John Teller, was the founder of the Sons of Anarchy. John wanted a motorcycle club for the joy of riding, but after bringing in members, including Clay, the club begins to focus on the fastest way to make big money.
