Host Company Background and Strategic Objectives 1.1 History of the Host Company. Tallaght Hospital first opened on the 21st June 1998. On this day 115 patients were transferred from the Adelaide, Meath and National Children’s Hospitals, also known as AMNCH. From the 23rd June, new patients were being accepted to the Hospital and the numbers grew steadily from there. The Hospital will be in operation twenty years in June of this year. The development of Tallaght Hospital was one of the largest capital investments in healthcare ever made by the Irish Government.

5. There are Five Clinical Directorates which are; the Medical Directorate, Peri-Operative Directorate, Paediatric Directorate, Radiology Directorate and the Laboratory Directorate. These five Clinical Directors oversee many tasks including the implementation of National Clinical Care Programs, Clinical Services, Organization & Delivery Assurance, Management of all staff in Directorate, Medical and Nursing/Healthcare Assistants (HCA's), Management of Budget for Clinical Directorate, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management.
6. Director of Quality Safety and Risk Management oversees the Development of all Hospital QRSM Policies & Procedures, Risk & Incident Management, Legal, Quality Improvement, Licensing & Regulation and Clinical Audit.
7. Director of Nursing attends to Nursing Standards, Nursing & Allies Education & Development, Clinical Information Centre, Pastoral Care and End of Life Services.
8. Chief Operations Officer manages Operations Oversight, Service Planning, Bed Management, Pharmacy and Medical Photography.
