Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited is the largest pharmaceutical company in Asia. This company has been making headlines due to its benevolence and effective charity. Takeda identifies CSR-related material issues through discussion with the communities formed by global enterprises, international NGOs and institutions involved in healthcare worldwide, including other global pharmaceutical companies, while referring to internal management strategy and management resources. The Takeda-Plan Healthcare Program Takeda joined the United Nations Global Compact program in 2009 prompting the start of the Takeda-Plan Healthcare Access Program. The program seeks to improve the health of children in Asia. The Takeda-Plan program operates in China, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. Ever since its inception, this plan has been widely successful and has aimed to cater to the needs of every country individually. The recipients of the grants are reviewed annually, and this year eight were selected to receive donations. These projects were chosen by the Civil Society Initiative Fund (CSIF), a NPO that manages the “Takeda Well-Being Program” through funding from Takeda. Spain: Takeda, in Spain, supports the Theodora Foundation, an NPO running the world’s largest hospital clown organisation. The project was developed in Madrid, Barcelona and Canarias and has helped 300,000 children to date. The project expands the activities of hospital clowns from hospital room visits to accompanying the children to surgery. This emotional support for the children frees up medical staff to concentrate.
