“The leader wants to make a difference and strives to create a thing that never was before. This thing, this difference, constitutes a vision” (Manning & Curtis, 2012, p. 62). For Martin Luther King, Jr., the thing that never was before, was the equality of all men. The difference was that no one race was superior to another, and all men are given the same rights and privileges as the other. As Dr King stated in his famous I Have a Dream speech, the Declaration of Independence states “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” (Manning & Curtis, 2012, p. 65). Our nation should stand by the Declaration of Independence and live it as it is written. The title of his speech is not coincidental. When a person thinks
