In “Violent Media is Good for Kids,” Gerald Jones states that violent media, such as graphic comic books, is not only good for kids to read, but may also be beneficial. In fact, he suggests that some kids may not know how to release or fantasize some of their anger without the experience of reading and being exposed to some type of this “violent entertainment.” At the beginning of this article, Jones shares his story about his own journey that started with him feeling like he, “suffocated my deepest fears and desires under a nice-boy persona.” Once his mother finally allowed him the read a comic book, The Hulk, he shares how he, “suddenly had a fantasy self to carry my stifled rage and buried desire for power.” This “fantasy self” he created through reading these comics had helped Jones finally” find” himself. The mother of that little girl and Jones began working together helping her tell her stories in ways such as stories and pictures.
