Dear Fred, I read The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings during the break, and I would like to tell you about it. The Baxter family lives in a cabin in the country area of Florida. The Baxter family includes Penny, his wife Ora, and their son Jody. Penny farms and hunts to make a living. One morning, they find that their pig was killed by a bear. Penny assumes that it is Old Slewfoot because he sees his tracks with one toe missing. He tries to kill him, but his gun does not fire. Their neighbors are the Forresters. They have their good and bad days with the Baxters. The Forrester family consists of the two parents, six boys, and Fodder-wing, who is a disabled boy.
