In W.W. Jacobs’ short story,“The Monkey’s Paw,” the White family has a guest named, Sergeant- Major Morris, who talks to the White family about a monkey’s paw that grants three wishes. Mr. White wishes for 200 pounds, however; receives an outcome of his son dying and realizes the long term effects of changing fate. Mankind should not take the easy way out to change their lives to what they want, because those who try, may receive consequences. It is important to know that you must work hard to achieve your goals in order to have a positive outcome. The White family believes that wishing for the things they want, will make their lives easier, but becomes to realize that that is not true. The author uses a condemnatory tone to reveal that you
