In the Reaction In a Bag lab we were asked to add phenol red to calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. First we kept the two reactions separate, so we could observe the effect phenol red had on the two compounds. After observing the two reactions we allowed them to mix creating a third reaction. After, observing all of the reactions and gathering evidence I could conclude without doubt that all of the three reactions were chemical. The mixture of sodium bicarbonate and red phenol created a reaction that caused the mixture to become colder than room temperature a property of a chemical change. We observed a color change and heat being give off the reaction between calcium chloride and red phenol. Both properties of a chemical change. The
