The article is about the organization and the subsistence means of the Norte Chico region in the Supe Valley between 3000 and 1800 BC. The authors compare previous articles and conclusion with more recent findings. They review and critic the assumptions of Feldman on the political organization of Aspero (chiefdom) and its means of subsistence (mostly maritime) and they identify the possible way to interpret the findings. Haas and Creamer based their analysis on all the findings of Norte Chico and questioned conclusions only based on a single site.
