The weaknesses or fails of the Articles of Confederation had the United States unprotected, unstable and defenseless. These articles didn’t give to national government the enough or even necessary power over the United States. Every state was independent and administrated by its own so the power of national government was limited. They couldn’t enforce and force states to obey all the laws, national government didn’t have power over taxes or commerce, so it cannot have a control over trades with other countries and there were no incomes. The United States didn’t have Army, Navy or national courts, so in case of war the country was defenseless, making it an easy target.
