Spot pigs originated in the Putnam and Hendricks counties of Indiana, during the early 1900's. The spot pig cross came from the crossing of Poland China and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs. With distinctive colors the spot pigs have a have white body with defined black spots. This type of color is necessary to register the pig as a Spot and they cannot have blue or slate grey spotting or curly hair. Another characteristic of this breed other than their distinctive color is their big droopy ears. On average, the spot pigs have a medium to large size body frame.
