GATHERING OF DATA Methodology o The focus question: “Does spectator behaviour impact on high school sports players’ match performance?” which fell into the criteria of a Life Orientation One Research Task (ORT) was chosen. I chose this topic because I have been personally affected by spectator behaviour particularly whiles paying sports matches and I wold like to find out how others may be affected by different types of spectator behaviour. This has been discussed in the introduction and has been discussed with my teacher. o Three specific aims were determined and finalised: “To determine the effect of spectator behaviour on high school sports players’ concentration; To determine the effect of spectator behaviour on high school sports players’ performance; To determine the effect of spectator behaviour on high school sports players’ emotional mood.” Also, participants’ opinions on what constitutes as positive and negative spectator behaviour can also be explored. o Secondary source literature as well as research papers that were relevant to my research were found on the internet in general ,as well as Google Scholar specifically, were used it to construct both the review of literature as well as the questionnaires on which much pf the research is based. The target group’s location is Roodeport and they are of a middle-class to upper-class socioeconomic status. Participants were chosen based on whether they play or have played sport due to the research being of a sport-orientated nature and participants are of a specific age group because I feel that this age group is competent enough to answer the questions
