We’re the world was a song composed by Michael Jackson to raise awareness and funds for a famine long back. It has a humanitarian touch to it as it pleads to the people to save lives of their fellow human beings. Imagine was a song composed by John Lennon. It encourages the listener to imagine a world at peace without the barriers of borders or the divisiveness of religions and nationalities, and to consider the possibility that the focus of humanity should be living a life unattached to material possessions. Both the songs are alike in a way that they speak about the world coming together as one and promoting unity across the globe. The only religion that should exist is being one. Michael Jackson says, ‘Let's realize that a change can only come, when we stand together as one’ whereas John Lennon says, ‘I hope someday you will join us and the world will live as one’. Both songs emphasize on the fact that change starts from within and if each of us decides to take a step towards change, it would result into a great effort collectively.
