Throughout all of history there have been seven major religions that have greatly impacted history. Those religions are Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Those seven religions can be broken up into three different group Confucianism and Taoism, Buddhism and Hinduism, and the people of the book (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). Each of these groups have similarities and differences and that is what we will be finding out in this essay. Confucianism has six basic beliefs they are education, humans are naturally good, being polite is important, inspect your elders, your ancestors should be worshipped because they can provide guidance, and the yin and yang are opposite forces that hold the universe in harmony. Taoism mostly focuses on the individual. Some similarities of Taoism and Confucianism is that they both focus more closely on what happens in this world, they each do not really have a god, they both…show more content… Buddhism’s main beliefs are that suffering and misery are universal and that the reason is desire, so the way to end suffering is to overcome desire by follow the eightfold path. Hinduism’s main beliefs are that there is one overall goe Brahman that exists in everything and the four basic tenets Dharma, Samsara, Karma, and Moksha. Some similarities between Buddhism and Hinduism are that they each believe in many gods, reincarnation, spiritual reality besides the reality, and that there are many different ways to become enlightened. Some differences between Hinduism and Buddhism are that even though Hinduis believe in many gods they believe that there is one overall god, buddhist don’t have priest’s, buddhist also believe anyone can enter Nirvana but hindus don’t, and buddhist do not have so much emphasis on what social class that you are in.
