Our ecosystem is affected by local climate. With the drought that has been with us for a couple of years, the environment has been drastically changed. There are limited tree species in the Sierra Nevada forest. The trees that are in the Sierra Nevada forest have to be able to live at high elevations and with the little water have had. In Incline, there are only a handful of different trees. The most common are White Fir, Red Fir, White Bark Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Western White Pine, Sugar Pine, Jeffry Pine, Western Juniper, Incense Cedar and Quaking Aspen. Pines have a large range of elevation that they grow from about 1,500 feet to 10,000 feet. Firs are easy to determine from elevation levels. White Firs can be found at less than 7,000 feet
